2010 Starts with a BANG! : BFBC2 18/01/10

6 years ago on Battlefield Vietnam is where this clan begun and the next instalment is right around the corner!

2010 brings the 5th year of Battlefield 2 which has been the biggest success for the clan to date. With early success in TWL for over 2 years moving onto i37 LAN victory and i38 4th place Battlefield is what we are good at!

Battlefield Bad Company 2 is a highly anticipated game by the whole pc community after the failing of IW and MW2.

There are some questions hanging over the PC version of the game but im sure these will be answered in the BETA.

I am pleased to announce today that Battlefield Bad Company 2 will be the next clan game! Full focus will now be driven towards this game starting Jan 28th when the BETA is released.

We are now looking to recruit people to come and join the clan. My aim for this section is to have a big group of gamers using our ranked server that we will have but also have a League/LAN team.

As soon as the BETA is released on the 28th we will be able to tell if the League/LAN team is possible or even if competitive gaming is in BFBC2. I personally have no doubts that BFBC2 will become competitive as long as DICE develop the game to how the community wants it!

If its possible to get a server during the BETA we will do! If not we will definitely have a server for the full game and we will be looking for people to help pay for it, if you would like to help contact me.

If you are already in the clan and looking to become part of the BFBC2 section then please let me know. If you haven’t pre ordered yet then you need to do so the only current place offering BETA access is www.play.com. The BETA will be a great chance to get use to the game ready for the release on March 5th.

If you are not already in the clan and you want to join please apply at www.join.mi5-clan.com as I said we are looking for both a League/Ladder team and people that want to play with us publicly just like we did across BFV,BF2 and 2142.

The BETA will be the place for you to show me your skills and teamwork so as soon as the game is released a team can be picked and trained ready to enter leagues and LAN tournaments.

If you have any questions contact me!

i38 - Another LAN comes to the end! 16/11/09

i38 Ended today yet another 4 days of gaming!

Newbury was the venue and I was quite impressed with it! The LAN did feel alot smaller with people spread over a few floors, but it was a great LAN with a different feeling.

Personally I think stoneleigh is the better venue but only for the summer one when a much larger group turnout.

We entered into the BF2 tournament this time playing for prize money a total pot of £500 for the top 4 teams

I was expecting to see a bigger turnout than we had, only 6 full teams entered, there were rumours flying around that a few teams in Europe were going to turn up but this wasn’t the case!

The first stage was basically playing every other team, our first match was a giant mountain to climb in the form of power gaming a highly skilled team and regarded as a top team in Europe.

I wasn’t expecting much here as I knew we would get wiped out which basically did happen......we tried our best to run them around the map but a mixture of it being the first match of the day, first time in months playing together and the first time since i34 warden playing BF2, they were just too good!

Our next match was against a mixture of Rush Gaming and Crack Clan, RG being the team we beat at i37, again we lost and was feeling pretty much destroyed.

Then we played Team Rush again a decent team, a critical error was made on our side on the start of the first round virtually sealing the fate of the first round. The 2nd round was better but we lost.

Next up was Team CoolerMaster, who are again regarded as a top team in Europe and a close match to power gaming if not slightly ahead, we waited on the server for TCM to turn up which a couple of them did but a team of 4 that was needed to start the match didn’t turn up and the BF2 admin for the tournament gave us a default win.

This boosted our tickets and gave us a second lifeline, we had to destroy the next team and make sure that power gaming beat RGCC by a considerable margin.

We did destroy the next team and power gaming did beat RGCC meaning we would be in the top 4.

Although this wouldn’t have happened if TCM did turn up but if people cast their minds back to i34 we lost out in the group stages as we beat a team and then they left meaning everyone else in the group had a ticket boost forcing us to miss out on the next stages.

Also technical problems on my part at i37 meant that we played with 4 virtually throughout the group stages.

Things like this do happen fortunately for us it happened in our favour and we were into the elimination stages.

At this point we were a lot happier and feeling more relaxed and working 1,00000000000 times better as a team as now we had 6 matches previously to practice.

The next match we had was against Power Gaming on karkand which is the same map we played them on previously.

This time we felt we could give it a better go now we had played more previously.

As a team we couldn’t match their firepower so we went to try and give them the run around the map, good teamwork and smart thinking meant that on the USA side we nearly had them capped out, we just tried to think outside the box and just do whatever we could. We held onto a few tickets on the US side.

The 2nd round they capped us out but we had a lot of fun in the process!

We then played against Team Rush again on Sharqi, again we just had to do what we could and try to be sneaky and think on the spot.

First round we held around 90 tickets to them

On the 2nd round they returned the favour of being sneaky and smart got around us and capped us out!

This meant that we landed in 4th place.

Team Rush then went on to beat TCM by about 3 tickets meaning they went into the final to face Power Gaming.

The overall result was:

1st Power Gaming
2nd Team Rush
3rd Team CoolerMaster
4th =[MI5]=

In the end we did ok and will be getting a cut of the prizefund, as a team we improved hugely from the start, its highly likely that this will be the last BF2 tournament at the iseries with BFBC2 coming up next.

On the whole the LAN was great it would have been better to have more members attend but I hope at i39 we have a bit more interest and then at i40 get back up to big number of members!

The LAN also showed how COD:MW2 will not work as a competitive game unless IW do a complete U turn which I don’t think is going to happen. I would expect to see COD4 back at i39

Now I look forward to BFBC2 which is highly likely to be the next game for the clan.

The PC beta will be out in December when I know more I will post about it.

If you are seriously looking to become involed in BFBC2 team then I suggest you get ready to get on the BETA and work out how to play the game etc.

I would expect the game to become competitive and I will be looking to enter a team into the iseries LANs, and keep a constant team of players that will attend the LANs and play online to try and become top team in European leagues.

If this interests you then show your interest to me!

Thanks to the 4 others that came along to i38 who made it a great time!!!

If you are looking at i39 then please make your interest known it will be 2nd – 5th April 2010 and tickets are 20% off until 14th December.
